How does the Radeon HD 4770 compare to the GeForce 9600 GT?

chelly asked:

Sapphire Radeon HD 4770 512MB
v.
Galaxy GeForce 9600 GT Overclocked 512MB

Please let me know if one is a better choice, or if they are similar enough in function and performance that it doesn’t matter.

that is THE best site for video card revie. As you can see, the HD 4770 is much better.

I would say the 4770 is a little better, but if someone was to try both in their computer you probably wouldn’t find much of a difference.

I would just get the cheaper one if its between these 2.

The 4770 will wreck the 9600GT. However, keep in mind that the 4770 goes for around $120 or $110, which is the same price as a GTS 250 or 9800GTX+ which will out perform the 4770.

the radeon one was released a year later, and it supports directx 10.1, but other than that they each have their own strengths and weaknesses. I prefer the geforce myself but in this case it depends on preference.

I can’t really find any performance comparisons. The Radeon is a newer release, uses less power and runs cooler from what I can gather. So if you don’t have a high wattage power supply and don’t want to buy an aftermarket cooler for the GeForce, then the Radeon should be a good choice.
